ELISA TORRES
Elisa’s work has been exhibited at galleries, festivals and museums locally including Acuña Art Gallery, Ojai City Hall, Studio Channel Islands Art Center, Buenaventura Art Gallery , Mc. Nish Art Gallery, DWTN Art Gallery, and has shown work next to well-known George Yepez. She has also been a part of PACC The Arts Festival in 2017. Other festivals include the Juneteenth Festival (2016), Día de los Muertos at Heritage Square(2016), night in Oaxaca(2016), Artists for Justice (2015).
Some of her awards include Award of Excellence in Sculpture, First place in Painting, Best in Show, President's Choice Award , Merit Award in Painting , and Visual and Performing Arts Department award in 2017 at Oxnard College's 12th Annual Student Art Exhibition, Oxnard Housing Authority Certificate of Appreciation 2017, honorable mention at Buenaventura Art Association 11th annual Collegiate Student Competition, Ojai Studio artists 25th Annual scholarship award 2017.
Her work has been printed in Merenguezine(Tijuana 2015) &The Soaring Condor (2017). She has helped paint several murals throughout the city.
In addition to creating her own artwork Elisa develops workshops for children at the Dr.Lopez community garden. She believes that creating through art /images can be a positive outlet and is encouragement for positive change. Elisa plans on continuing her art academics and creating pieces of work that inspire and open up different radical topics for discussion .
